1. Al-Fatinah الفاتحه
( The
Opening, 1st chapter and the most important verse of the Quran 1 )
In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds (mankind, jinns, all that exists)
The Beneficent, the Merciful,
Master of the Day of Judgment.
Lord, You (alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each & everything)
Guide us on the right path,
The path of those upon whom You have bestowed Your Grace,
Not (the way) of those who earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray.
Its seven verses are formed a prayer for Allah Mercy & Guidance & express the believer’s dependence on the Lordship and His Mercy & Grace. It has a special role in daily prayers and also recite at the start of every daily or voluntary prayer. It known as “Mother of Book” (Umm Al-Katib) and “Mother of Quran” (Umm Al-Quran) because it contains the meaning of the entire Quran as mentioned in Quran Al-Hijr, 15:87.
Prophet Muhammad said “Whoever performs any prayer in which he did not read Al-Fatinah then his prayer is incomplete.
Prophet Muhammad said “When you say in the prayer of Amin and the Angels in Heaven say Amin in unison, your previous sins will be forgiven”.
The most important benefit of Al-Fatinah is that it reminds us of Allah and it should bring us closer to Allah and it is equivalent to two third of the Quran.
2. Al-Kursi آية الكرسي
( The
greatest verses in Quran, The verse of Throne, Quran Al Baqara ( The Cow )
2:255 )
In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
Allah, There is no god but He,
The Living, The Self-Subsisting, The Eternal.
No Slumber can seize Him, nor sleep.
All things in Heaven and Earth are His.
Who could intercede in His presence without His permission?
He knows what appears in front of and behind His Creatures.
Nor can they encompass any knowledge of Him except what He wills.
His throne extends over the Heavens and the Earth.
And He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them,
For He is the Highest and Most Exalted.
Whoever recites Al Kursi before going to sleep, Allah will send an Angel to come and look after you and protect you, your family and home safety until the morning.
Whoever recites Al Kursi after doing Wudhu, Allah will give him a reward of 40 years of Ibadaat, his position will be raised in the Heavens 40 times (levels).
Whoever recites Al Kursi after every prayer, his or her prayer will be accepted, they will remain in the safety of the Allah and He will protect them.
3. 4 Quls
a. Al-Kafirun الكافرون ( Disbelievers Quran 109 )
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
Say: O disbelievers (In Allah, in His Oneness, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, Day of Resurrection, Predestination)
I worship nor that which you worship,
Nor will you worship that which I worship,
And I shall not worship that which you are worshipping,
Nor will you worship that which I worship,
To be your religion and to be my religion.
The verses is formed to keep in mind the separation between belief and unbelief. The reward for its recitation is equivalent to the reward for reciting a quarter of the Quran.
b. Al-Ikhlas الإخلاص ( The Purity, Quran 112 )
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, The Most Merciful
The Prophet Muhammad said “Al-Ikhlas” is one third of the Holy Quran for there is no doubt that one third of the Quran deals with the Unity of Allah, the essence of which has been purified.
c. Al-Falaq الفلق ( Dawn, Quran, 113 )
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn,
From the evil of that which He has created,
And from the evil of intense darkness, when it comes,
And from the evil of those who cast (evil suggestions) in firm resolutions,
And from the evil of the envier when he envies.
Its verses are for protection from evils spell such as the dark of the night. Al Falaq is the last two chapters of the Quran. Al Falaq was revealed along with Al Nas to remove the magic spell of the evil.
d. Al-Nas الناس ( Mankind, Quran 114 )
Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of Mankind,
The King of Mankind,
The God of Mankind,
From the evil of the sneaking whisperer,
Who whisperer in the hearts of Mankind,
Of the jinn and of mankind.
In fact, a person who seeks Allah’s blessings and protection through the prayers mentioned in these two chapters of the Quran (113 and 114), called mu‘awwazatain (surah of refuge) lives and dies in Islam and is safe from all sorts of troubles and sufferings.
The essence of Al Nas is seeking refuge in Allah from all forms of evils but in particular whisper of the evil and the evil influences of Mankind. Allah begins this Surah with three powerful attributes that belong to Him namely Lord (Rabb), King (Malik) and God (Ilah). This is to show the power and magnifence of Allah and that it is only He that can protect from all things.
